Step into the world of Monet and explore Chantilly Castle in just one day from Paris. Giverny is the home of many modern-day Impressionist artists who have set up their own small private galleries, such as Claude Cambour, Florence Ramier and Christophe Demarez, all of whom are located on the same road as theClaude Monet Foundation. Chateau de Chantilly is the work of Henri d’Orléans, Duke of Aumale, son of the last King of France, Louis-Philippe. This prince, who is considered to be the greatest collector of his time, made Chantilly the showcase for his countless masterpieces and precious manuscripts.

We are going to begin this tour in the morning when we’re going to leave Paris and drive towards Chantilly. In max 1,5 hours we’ll arrive at the castle . With an audio guide you will enjoy two hours exploring by yourself this marvelous Castle , Grounds and Great Stables. The Castle was rebuilt between 1875 and 1885 after being destroyed during the French Revolution, and reborn like a Phoenix out of the ashes. Another point of interest is ‘Les Grandes Écuries'(Grand Stables) a nice 18th century building which is still used for demonstrations of dressage and other spectacles.
In Giverny you will have time for refresments or a nice lunch before exploring the universe of Monet. The artist designed several colourful gardens, getting his new family to help him. His ambition was to to create a garden with lily ponds. Monet was not seeking specific inspiration with this new plan, but once he did it, they led to his very finest paintings – Les Nymphéas, and that put little village on the world map. Monet became very famous by this time. A lot of people came to visit him in Giverny, changing the face of the village. Monet lived here up until his death in 1926.
